FAQ
Burning questions
(Cremation jokes included.)
Is this a will?
No. imdeadgirl isn't a will, a trust, or estate planning, and nothing here is legally binding. It's your wishes, written down for the people who'll want to honor them. For money, property and kids, talk to a lawyer.
Who can see my plan?
Nobody, until your death is confirmed. Then only the people you chose, and only the parts you chose for each of them. Letters go only to the person they're addressed to.
How do you know I've died?
We check in with you on your schedule. If you don't answer for 3 days (after daily reminders), we ask the people on your list. One of them has to confirm before anything is shared.
What if someone confirms it by mistake, or as a prank?
You'll have had three days of reminders first. And if it happens anyway, sign in and prove you're alive with a code; we cut off access right away and tell your people.
What happens to my stuff after I die?
We keep it for one year so your people can see and download it, remind them before it's deleted, and then delete it for good.
What if I stop paying?
Check-ins stop and nothing would be shared. We keep your stuff for 12 months, remind you 30 and 7 days before, and then delete it. Renew anytime before that to pick up where you left off.
Can I get my stuff out?
Yes. Settings → Download my stuff gives you a zip of everything: your plan, obituary, letters and photos.
Is there a free plan?
No, but Basic is $1 a year, and we hand out promo codes now and then.
Wait, can guys use this?
Absolutely. “Girl” is a state of mind. Men, theys and everyone in between are welcome to plan a legendary send-off. We will still call you girl, though. Non-negotiable.
Can I use it outside the US?
Not yet. imdeadgirl is US only for now.
This is a lot. Are you okay?
We hope so! Planning for death is healthy, but if you're having a hard time, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time.
